ILM72 – The Integrated leadership measure
ILM72 - The Integrated Leadership Measure
What is Leadership?
"Leadership is ...... influencing, inspiring and directing the performance of people towards the achievement of key organisational goals - and creating the sense of success in the short and the long term."
Leadership is one of the key elements in inspiring people towards the achievement of organisational goals.
In 2007 a detailed examination of every leading model in the academic and occupational spheres was carried out under the expert guidance of Dr Peter Clough. This led to discovery that every major leadership model has its roots in one or more six specific scales. These measure aspects of leadership style which the individual adopts according to situation. Confirming that Leadership is situational.
One outcome was the development of a reliable psychometric measure – the ILM72 - which assessed these scales. Another was the identification of three global scales which appear to correlate with leadership effectiveness – which can also be measured through the ILM72.
It is now possible to measure an individual's adopted style and match these to the needs of the organisation. The ILM72 is applicable for any person who is in a leadership position in any organisation.
AQR’s work means that we now have a complete package with:
- A definition and description of leadership style and leadership effectiveness which maps to all leadership models
- A concept which is accessible and relates easily to models of motivation and other organisational qualities
- A realisable psychometric measure which measures an individual’s leadership style and effectiveness
- Development programmes which deliver measurable results.
